Live from LIMSAT - Kings Park...it's Tuesday Morning !

Ken Grimball of News 12 had a great time with early rising fourth grade students from Mr. Simola's class on May 30th.  Our 'early morning TV stars' arrived at The RJO school (Kings Park, NY) just after 5 a.m. to participate in some fun science...for the TV audience.  Balancing eagles on their noses, demonstrating some of their favorite science exhibits and toys, eating bagels, and generally having some fun, the students played up to the camera without any signs of shyness. Veteran TV personality Grimball seemed to be having as much fun as the kids!

Some of the adults in attendance made appearances on camera as well. Principal Michael O'Brien stated his pleasure at having LIMSAT in the school. Teacher Simola demonstrated a Moebeus Loop. Scientist and LIMSAT board member, Dr. Fred Kruger, showed  some of the characteristics of deer and dog ticks on both the Olympus low-power zoom video microscope and the high power laboratory microscope (slides borrowed from the Brookhaven National Laboratory).  Corporate sponsor and LIMSAT board member, John Kaegi, helped  students  use the VYTRA Health Plans' "Health-Related Question and Answer Computer" exhibit in the Museum.  Director Janet Tempel explained to Grimball and the viewers what LIMSAT was all about.  After three hours of being in the TV spotlight, all participants had to get back to their classrooms and offices, but were all the richer for the experience.
